Who We Are
Translight Photography Center [TPC] is a Self-Service Photography Lab offering the public Color and B/W Darkroom Rentals, Negative/Slide Film Scanning, Wide-Format Digital Printing, and Professionally led Photographic Workshops. TPC maintains the only public color darkrooms, the largest black and white community darkroom, and the only self-service film scanning station in the Los Angeles area. We serve a diverse array of professional photographers, amateurs, and students. TPC's customers rave about the professional equipment, the cleanliness and spaciousness of the lab, as well as the knowledgeable and friendly staff. The 'do-it-yourself' nature of TPC has proven to be extraordinarily appealing for those who desire immediate results, more creative control, and financial value.
TPC History
Translight Colors opened its doors in South Pasadena in 1997 due to the efforts of three entrepreneurial focused colleagues who worked together at the Art Center College of Design's photography lab. They combined their funds and extensive photography knowledge to establish a professional darkroom and digital scanning rental lab for the Southern California photographic community. In 2001, Translight moved to Montrose California, and then in late 2005 Translight moved to its current location adjacent to downtown Los Angeles at The Brewery, the world's largest live/work art colony. In late 2008, Translight was sold to its current owner, Michael Gotz, and renamed Translight Photography Center.
